The City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services' collection crews will not collect garbage, recyclables, yard waste and bulky items on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 18, 2010.  Collection services will operate on a one-day delay for the entire week with Friday customers receiving service on Saturday, January 23. 

To ensure collection, residents are asked to:

• Place collection materials curbside by 6:30 am on collection day
• Bag all garbage before placing it in the rollout cart
• Please allow 3 feet between your rollout cart, recycling bins, yard waste, bulky items and other obstacles
• Rinse out and remove lids from all recyclable containers before placing them in the recycling bin
• Trimmings from shrubs and trees must be no longer than 5 feet in length and no larger than 4 inches in diameter
• Yard waste should be separated in piles small enough for one person to carry
• Call 311 to schedule bulky item collection
